REPORT ON FEAST OF ST. IGNATIUS OF LOYOLA

The feast of St Ignatius of Loyola, who is the founder of the Society of Jesus, is a grand celebration in our college every year. This year the celebration started weeks before with various competitions for the students, which included sketching portraits of St. Ignatius, quiz competition based on life of St. Ignatius and chart making competition, also based on the life of St. Ignatius. Students actively took part in all these activities and won several prizes.

On 28 th July 2019, there was a Eucharistic celebration held for all units of SJII. His grace Rev. Dr. Peter Machado D.D, Archbishop of Bengaluru celebrated the mass along with all the Jesuit fathers of our institution and SJICPUC took charge of the Choir, which gained huge appreciation from the audience.

Followed by the mass, there was a celebration for all the SJII staff and their family members. It turned out to be a great Josephite family celebration where SJICPUC took charge of MC, lamp decoration and stage arrangement duties.

The celebration for the PU college students was held on Monday 29 th July 2019 in the college quadrangle. Fr. Joseph D’mello graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. His inspiring speech gained the attention of students as he gave some wonderful Ignatian principles for students to imbibe in them. Our Rector Fr. Leo Pereira and our Director Fr. Henry Saldanha also gave words of wisdom to the students through their speeches. The programme turned out to be more entertaining through a Skit performed by college theatre team on the life of St. Ignatius and the Ignatian anthem sung by the College choir.

Thus, a meaningful, informative and joyful celebration took place in the college campus on the occasion of feast of St Ignatius of Loyola.
