One Day Educational Trip

The department of Biology had organised a one day educational trip to Mysore on September 1st 2017, with a purpose to enrich the students with opportunities for alternative education in the area of Biology and to provide an insight on training techniques in the laboratory skills and field study.

About 50 students of II PCMB A and II PCMB B accompanied by the 4 staff Mrs. Annette Diana, Dr. Flora D’souza, Mrs. Sheeba Evangeline J and Mr. Pradeep Kumar visited Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) and Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Garden , Mysore.

The staff and students gathered in the college Campus by 6.00 am and started at 6.30am and reached Mysore by 9.15am. First we visited St. Philomina’s Church and then we moved to CFTRI. CFTRI is one of national research laboratories in India. This institute develops technique to increase efficiency and reduce post harvest losses. To study food safety, production and handling of spices, pulses, grains, vegetables etc. Students had an overview of automated dosa, chapathi, idli, vada and ragi ball making machines . And also learnt about different courses offered by CFTRI.

After the visit of CFTRI we had lunch in a restaurant and reached Mysore Zoo at 2 pm. Mysore Zoo is currently a home for Elephants, Lemur, Lion, Tiger, Leopard, Cheetah, Giraffe, Chimpanzee, Hippopotamus, Rhinoceros variety of Birds, Reptiles and Plants. Students enjoyed watching animals their behavior and learnt the Biological names. With this the Educational trip came to an end as we reached Bangalore by 9.00 pm.
