Hindi - Inter Collegiate Debate Competition

An Inter-College Debate Competition was organized by the Hindi Club of SJICPUC. The competition was held in St Joseph’s Auditorium on 24 th August, 2019. The program began by invoking God’s presence through a bhajan. The Chief Guest for this function were Dr. Gagan Kumari, Professor of Meenakshi Nitta College and Dr. Deenu Rani, Senior Hindi Officer in ISRO. The other dignitaries were Rev Fr. Leo Pereira SJ, Rector, Rev Fr. Henry Saldanha, Director, Mr. Vinod Amrithraj, Principal and Dr. Flora D’souza, Vice-Principal of SJICPUC.
Dr. Gagan Kumari and Dr. Deenu Rani were the judges of the competition. Around 17 colleges participated with 38 participants. The Topic for the debate was “Negative effects of the growth of population and practical solutions to curb this problem”. The participants were judged based on their content, diction, pronunciation, stage presence and ability of attracting the audience.
The participants took part with great enthusiasm and exuberance. They exhibited good oratory skill and put in a lot of hard work. Every idea and opinion portrayed by the participants enhanced the knowledge and understanding of the topic among the students. The competition lasted for about 2 hours. Every participant was give the participation certificate and winners were awarded with prizes. All the participants were encouraged for their fabulous performance. Mr. Vinod Amrithraj delivered a speech in Hindi. In his speech he gave importance to the need for arranging such programme .He also encouraged the students for their brilliant performance. Lastly the programme ended with a vote of thanks.
