Annual Day Report

St. Joseph’s Indian Composite PU College celebrated its 12th Annual Day on 24th November 2018 in the institution auditorium. The Chief Guest for the evening was Mr. Sugata Srinivasaraju, Co-founder and Editorial Director of First Person Media Private Limited, Bengaluru who is also an alumnus of St. Joseph’s Indian High School. The event was presided over by Fr. Leo Pereira SJ, Rector of St. Joseph’s Indian Institutions. The other dignitaries present were Rev. Fr. Henry Saldanha SJ, Director, SJICPUC; Mr. Vinod Amrithraj, Principal, SJICPUC; Dr. Flora Olinda D’Souza, the Vice Principal; the heads of various units of St. Joseph’s Indian Institutions; along with the Vice President of the Parent-Teacher Association Mr. Lawrence P.
The theme for the Annual Day was “Conservation of Nature” and “150 Years of Celebrating the Mahatma”. The programme commenced with the college anthem followed by a prayer and an invocation dance. After the lighting of the lamp, the dignitaries were welcomed by Dr. Flora D’Souza. The Director, Fr. Henry Saldanha SJ and the Principal Mr. Vinod Amrithraj addressed the gathering and presented the Annual Report respectively. The Chief Guest Mr. Sugata Srinivasaraju shared his reflections and emphasised the need for the overall development of the individual. He also urged the students to have a goal in life and to pursue their dreams. He shared his experience as a student of St. Joseph’s and recalled his fond memories of his life in the city of Bangalore and its multicultural heritage. This was followed by the Presidential address by Rev. Fr. Leo Pereira SJ. The evening was made colourful by various cultural programmes like folk dance, theme dance and non-theme dance performed by select Ankura teams, and a grand finale dance which portrayed the theme. The Chief Guest and other dignitaries honoured the academically meritorious students. The programmme ended with the Vote of Thanks by Ms. Sowmiya Carmel, Department of Chemistry.
