A seminar on Statistic Theory was organised by the Department of Statistics on 13 th September 2019. The resource person was Mr. Siva Athreya, Associate Dean, at the Indian Statistical Institute.
He emphasized on the evolution of the earth and external forces binding the world. He stated that the latter is the inspiration statistical development. His insight on the origin of ‘THE BEST FIT LINE’ and ‘METER’ were not only informative but also interesting.
According to Mr. Siva understanding the question is much more important than knowing the answer. Various meaningful and fun filled sessions were conducted which helped the students to be aware of various aspect of the subject. Time flew quickly in the presence of knowledgeable entities, giving students an opportunity to explore and investigate their interests in the field of Statistics.
