International Day Against Drug and Illicit Substance Use

On June 26th, 2025, St. Joseph's Indian Composite PU College, in collaboration with the Bengaluru Police Department, organized a seminar to mark the International Day Against Drug and Illicit Substance Use. The main event took place at Kanteerava Stadium, with students participating virtually. The primary objective of the event was to spread awareness among the youth about the rising issue of drug abuse and its serious consequences. A key highlight of the session was the introduction of a new initiative featuring QR code facilities, enabling students and citizens to anonymously report individuals involved in drug-related activities. The event was led by Honorable Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara and DG & IG Dr. M.A. Saleem, IPS who stressed on the importance of the youth understanding the harmful impact of using substances. The program also included an oath-taking ceremony where students pledged to stay away from drugs and promote a healthy lifestyle. Following the seminar, some students as representatives of SJICPUC participated in a walk for awareness through Cubbon Park and surrounding areas, carrying placards and spreading messages about the importance of a drug-free society. The event aimed to empower young minds to take a stand and become ambassadors of change within their communities.
